The League’s Marketer’s Network is sponsoring a workshop titled, “Putting Social Media to Work at Your Credit Union.” Amaia Kirtland, CUNA’s Social and Digital Media Manager, will lead our discussion of this important topic.
It’s clear that social media is no longer a “new thing.” Credit unions have been cautiously adding social media assets over the past decade and that trend is only going to accelerate. This means of communication is a central part of popular culture, and because of that it is of vital interest to marketers the world over. However, unlike the media marketers relied on for most of the last half of the 20th century, there are few established “orthodoxies.” Opinions abound as to how best to put marketing messages to work, but figuring out what is right for your credit union is still a challenge.
Amaia will talk to us about which social media options are available and what their strengths and disadvantages are. She will also share her experiences managing Social Media for CUNA and special projects that she is responsible for such as CUNA’s highly visible consumer facing website www.asmarterchoice.org. This session will also feature an extensive question and answer segment so that attendees can get Amaia’s input on issues they are dealing with for their credit union’s social media presence.
The program will begin at 9:30 a.m. after coffee and registration. Our second session, a roundtable discussion which will focus on “What’s Working for You,” will begin at 11:15 a.m. The program will end with lunch at noon.
