S-200 - The Lending Process

Thursday, September 26, 2013

Credit Union Center

Marlborough, MA
Making loans has long been the corner stone of a credit union’s business. Times have changed. Have we changed with them? 0% financing on car loans, on-line lending, call centers, increased competition at every turn and an aging membership base is making it more difficult for credit unions to compete for each loan opportunity. When the opportunity does present itself, your staff must be prepared to answer questions correctly, take an application and process it quickly and efficiently.

Consumer Lending Basics will walk participants through the lending process from the interview to the closing. We will discuss the regulations guiding the lending process, the importance of knowing and following your lending policies and procedures, how to obtain and evaluate the clear and accurate data needed, and how to take advantage of cross-sell opportunities.

This presentation will include an overview of:

  • History and philosophy of credit union lending
  • Glossary of terms
  • Loan policy vs. loan procedure
  • Understanding the regulations
  • The lending process – application, interview, decision, cross-selling opportunities
  • Credit analysis
  • Loan monitoring
  • Business lending overview
