Welcome to the FY12 DBH Prevention Grantee Annual Meeting!
Each year the Behavioral Health Section of Prevention & Early Intervention Services provides an opportunity for all Comprehensive and Alcohol Safety Action Program (ASAP) grantees to gather together to learn, network and share information about what is happening across Alaska in the field of behavioral health prevention.
Much is happening in the field of behavioral health prevention; we are moving in many exciting directions with a stronger emphasis on using data to drive prevention strategies; on community level change; and clear and measurable outcomes. In order to establish strong community coalitions and successful prevention leadership, all of us need to stay on top of the most current research and new information available to continually improve the work we do, and to obtain the best results (outcomes) possible.
This year’s agenda is exceptional; every year our agenda gets better, stronger and more focused on issues that will truly make a difference for our communities and the state. The agenda provides a blend of plenary presentations; workshop options; and quality time for you to spend with your identified Program Coordinator.
Day 1 (September 27) is required for all ASAP grantees; in addition, there is an optional, but highly recommended training titled “Prevention Basics.” While everyone is invited to this pre-meeting training, we especially encourage our Building Capacity grantees and anyone who is new to behavioral health prevention. Please note that box lunches will be provided for everyone participating in Day 1 activities.
Days 2 and 3 (September 28-29) are required for all Comprehensive Prevention and ASAP grantees. Both days will begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at 4:30 p.m. On September 28 we have a working lunch (box lunches provided) providing you 2-hours with your Program Coordinator—this will be a great opportunity to hear about the coming year, to ask questions and to meet and network with other grantees. On September 29 you will have lunch “on your own.”
This year’s meeting will be held at the Anchorage Hilton in downtown Anchorage (click on “HOTEL” above). Please register for each portion of the meeting you will be attending.
Thanks so much for your ongoing commitment to the work of behavioral health promotion, prevention, and early intervention—together we are making a difference for all Alaskans.
See you soon!
