The 6th Annual Alaska School Health and Wellness Institute is Monday – Wednesday, October 24-26, 2011, at the Downtown Anchorage Marriott Hotel, Anchorage, Alaska.

This year’s theme, “Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds”, highlights the important link between school health and academics.   In keeping with Alaska’s goal of moving toward a Coordinated School Health Model, a wide variety of topics are being offered in the preconference and regular sessions.  National and state experts will be presenting on school nutrition, school environmental health, bullying prevention, childhood obesity, teen media literacy, healthy relationships, development of the adolescent brain, suicide post-vention, underage drinking and youth resiliency factors. In addition, there will be a legislative panel, and two sessions spotlighting success stories from around the state.

Who should come:  teachers, school nurses, public health nurses, counselors, school superintendents, school board members, administrative staff, school nutrition staff, parents, students, and community members interested in learning the best practices for implementing effective school health and wellness policies and programs throughout Alaska.

We hope to see you there!
