The Tennessee Department of Health has approved the use of hospital preparedness program (ASPR) funds for this session.
This course addresses Active Shooter scenarios (also known as a "Code Silver") and focuses on situations where a person with a gun is inflicting or threatening to harm hospital staff, patients or visitors.
Active shooter events unfold quickly leaving hospitals with little time to respons and mitigate the scenario; these scenarios present unique challenges to hospital planning, training and exercises.
Who Should Attend
This course is intended for those responsible for Active Shooter scenario planning. These individuals may include members of emergency preparedness committees, nursing supervisors and nurse educators, safety and secruity pesonnel, risk managers, environment of care, public relations, human resource managers and first responders (Law Enforcement, Fire and EMS).
