Hanley Wood/AIA Component Opportunity Fund

The Hanley Wood/AIA Component Opportunity Fund is a $10,000 program awarded annually by Hanley Wood to two local or state components of the American Institute of Architects. Each component selected will receive a $5,000 grant.

The grant supports:

  • Charettes, lectures, symposia, tours, youth education, publications, and other programs for professionals and must be open to the public
  • Development toward new membership recruitment programs
  • Development of new continuing education content

Special consideration will be given to initiatives that support underserved audiences.


Programs not eligible for consideration include:
  • Any financial support or underwriting of design awards ceremonies.
  • Advertising or sponsorships directly tied to any membership initiative that receives the grant.
  • Activities related to the promotion of continuing education workshops or annual component membership meetings and expositions.
  • Staff positions or underwriting of general operating expenses.
