CWA’s Sixth Annual
YOUTH CONFERENCE…
The Adventure Continues
January 17 - 19, 2006
Hyatt Regency Orange County

CWA’s Youth Conference is an on-going storyline – with new episodes each year. Ready for viewing this January: the latest episode of CWA’s youth conference…The Adventure Continues.  In year’s past, we have had Science Fairs, youth facilitators, group mural making, youth videographers, a closing youth panel, the wall of commitment, team contests, a healing pole and candlelight vigil, balloon ideas at lunch, PB&J sandwiches at “recess”, and the original and various “remixed” versions of Ed DeJesus. This year’s Youth Conference will incorporate both similar features and new twists.  We invite you to experience the Sixth Annual CWA Youth Conference…The Adventure Continues!

For those who have not yet “lived” it, the Youth Conference draws on the work of organizations and people throughout the country, presenting new and better ways to help youth craft career and life paths with meaning and dignity. Conference participants are dedicated and passionate, eager to learn and full of life; the youth participants keep the adults honest and on their toes! This year's Conference will bring in special talent to enable the “youth voice" to be heard, helping both adults and youth to advocate more effectively for youth services. Additionally, we will highlight community partnerships and collaborations that connect youth not just with jobs, but employment experiences that provide a pathway to future economic opportunity.

In addition to learning about what is working now, we will directly tackle changes on the horizon. DOL has a new vision for youth programs, which will require many people to completely redesign their programs. Come learn about these changes and what you need to do to continue to be successful in serving youth with new sets of requirements. You will get ideas for redesigning youth programs for out of school youth, foster youth, youth with disabilities and adjudicated youth in transitioning to independence.  Other sessions will provide information relevant to meeting WIA performance standards and implementing common measures. Practical, down to earth ideas meld with big picture thinking.

The Youth Conference is always an exciting event - bringing together youth and adults to make a difference for youth.  Please join us… the adventure won’t be the same without you!

IS THIS CONFERENCE FOR ME?
Youth deserve the very best. This Conference consistently receives high marks from attendees in providing valuable, timely, useful information for youth providers and for the young people who attend. Whether you work at the federal, state or local level, in workforce, education, organized labor or social services, or for a city, county, state, community or faith based organization, now is the time to register for this conference.

Youth Participation
About 20% of attendees are youth, who are provided a special reduced price when they register. We encourage local organizations to sponsor youth who are active in their programs
