The Academy for Spiritual Leadership offers persons a safe place to grow in their own faith journeys and to explore where God is leading them in the future. It involves a series of four retreats in the 2009-2010 school year that deals with these themes:
Connecting to Our Calling
September 24-26, 2009
Connecting to Our Souls
November 19-21, 2009
Connecting to the Church and Community
January 28-30, 2010
Connecting to Our Faith Journey
April 22-24, 2010
All of the retreats begin with registration at 5pm on Thursday and close at noon on Saturday.
Each retreat features a faculty/retreat leader who is nationally known, bringing depth and wisdom to the theme. The retreats also include time spent in small groups, time apart (called Sabbath Rest), and time in worship. We sing a lot, pray a lot, eat a lot, and have times of great fun and fellowship.
We are looking for persons who, like John Wesley, are open to a ‘heart warming experience’ that will guide their journeys as spiritual leaders. Our intention is to have sojourners from a wide mix of churches across the Louisiana Conference diverse in age, gender and race.
All of the retreats are held at The Wesley Center, in Woodworth, LA. The registration fee for the four retreats is $380. Half can be paid in 2009 and the other half in 2010. This includes lodging for eight nights and all meals. Continuing education units are given at the conclusion of the retreat series.
Include a brief letter, telling something about yourself, confirming that you can attend all four retreats, and expressing why you feel drawn to participate in The Academy.
