spacer Understanding the Needs of Consumers in the Use of Genome-based Health Information Services

OVERVIEW

The workshop will be held on July 7, 2008 from 12:30 PM – 5:30 PM (Eastern) and will focus on three topics:

    • What is known about consumer interest in consumer-oriented genome-based health information services (CGHIS) and about the consumers’ understanding of what is being offered?
    • What information do consumers need to make use of the services to potentially maximize health benefits and minimize harms?
    • What considerations should be made by the CGHIS organizations for privacy protections and informed consent procedures?
